8 Very good
I have chartered more than 40 sailing boats from numerous charter companies over the years. This charter company is very well organised, friendly and efficient, the technical staff are very well-informed and extremely helpful and the boat was in very good condition. The plus-points of this boat are: 510 litre fresh water tank (3 tanks); well-maintained engine/transmission; excellent batteries and alternator - the batteries could be charged from 50% to 100% in about an hour, something I have never seen; excellent chain/anchor combination even though it only has 45m of chain - we got caught in a sudden squall at anchor (3.5:1 scope) with 35 knots of wind and we held perfectly even though the sea bottom was full of seagrass - two other sailing boats dragged their anchors and one ended up on the rocks; the sails are ok - we managed 9.2 knots SOG on a reach in 17 knots of wind - not bad for a 39-footer. As a sailor, I can really recommend this boat and the charter company.
I thought the price was quite high for this boat and time of year(June) and it was unusual to have to pay the full charter fee at the time of booking. Also, there is a central (large) holding tank from both heads and an electric pump/macerator for emptying it. We had initial problems with this pump until we found out that 1) you have to pump the (manual) toilets many times with lots of water when using them and, 2. when you want to empty the tank, you have to keep the pump running for a long time because the the waste is pumped through really long pipes before it can exit the boat. If you know this, there won't be any problems.
