The Port of Kotor is a pleasant place. The boat was ready earlier than we expected, and the check-in process went smoothly, except for the fact that it was very dirty — as if it hadn’t been cleaned at all (or had been cleaned very poorly). The company returned the security deposit very quickly. Also the charter price was an advantage.
The boat is relatively new according to its year of construction, but its condition — both technical and aesthetic — is far below any expectations. The first thing we saw when we stepped on board was a pair of pliers in the cockpit. It soon became clear that these pliers were essential for many tasks on board — from removing guardrails to turning off the gas in the oven — because many mechanical components were either not working or damaged. In just two years of charter use, the boat has deteriorated badly. Yes, we rented it at the end of the season, but it’s obvious that most of the malfunctions, breakages, and missing parts cannot be fixed all at once. Proper ongoing maintenance is clearly lacking which was reflected in the charter price.
