2 Terrible
The Lagoon 42 sailboat itself was pleasant to sail, with plenty of space for the whole family. Sailing in Italian waters went smoothly, and the boat fulfilled its purpose for our sea holiday.
Our experience with the Spartivento company was unfortunately very disappointing. The staff handling the check-in were incompetent, unable to explain the basic operation of the boat, including how to use a winch (I had to demonstrate). The safety net we requested for our children's safety wasn't installed upon arrival; we had to ask for it, and it was finally installed in less than five minutes, poorly attached to the genoa—which, incidentally, got tangled in it during the week—for the sum of €300. But the worst part was the check-out: we were charged €100 for a flagpole that was already broken and covered with several layers of tape upon our arrival, being accused of having applied the tape ourselves. We were also charged €150 for a slightly bent winch that the technician seemed to know about in advance, as if the charge had been decided before the inspection. Finally, we were charged €70 for a generator switch that we never used or even touched all week. On top of that, the Spartivento company base is about a 15-minute walk from the boats. Overall, I consider this company dishonest, engaging in excessive billing for pre-existing or fabricated damage. I do not recommend this rental.
