Yacht charter and Boat rental in Grenada

December to April is the main charter season, with steady easterly trade winds and busy moorings. May is quieter, if the weather allows. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from 1 June to 30 November. For dates in that period, check availability, insurance and the charter company's storm procedures.

Start with short day trips around St George’s / Prickly Bay / Grenada in weather your crew can handle. Pick a nearby harbour as a fallback and get to know the boat before a longer crossing. Book a skippered charter if nobody in your crew has experience with navigation or berthing.

A catamaran suits groups who want separate cabins and level living space. A sailing yacht suits smaller crews who want to sail and need a narrower berth. A power catamaran gives you more living space and travels under engine. Compare shade, water capacity, fuel terms and mooring options. Reef restrictions apply to shallow-draught boats too.

Choose the marina first, then compare flights and road transfers via Maurice Bishop (GND) / St George’s. Check the full journey to the marina and leave time for shopping and the boat handover. If you arrive late, arrange the pick-up in advance and book a room ashore if the charter company does not offer an overnight check-in.

Check the current rules of Grenada Ports Authority / Molinere–Beauséjour MPA / Grenadines clearance before you choose your stops. Access, anchoring and mooring rules differ by zone, and some zones charge entry fees or close. Follow official maps, signs and local instructions, protect the seabed and shoreline and use waste facilities. An empty spot does not mean you may anchor or moor there.

Spice Island Marine Services charges US$48/day for a 40 ft monohull staying up to 3 days (2026 tariff). Electricity, water and staying on board cost extra. Before booking, ask about tax and washrooms.

Bareboat requirements depend on the boat, engine, flag and sailing area. Your licence has to meet the local rules, and the charter company has to accept it. Send your licence and sailing CV to the charter company before you pay, and ask whether you also need a VHF certificate. If your licence or experience falls short, book a skippered charter.

Ask the charter company whether it can provide a skipper for your boat. Bareboat listings do not include one. Before booking, agree on the fee, working hours, the skipper's berth and meals. If no skipper is available, choose another boat that comes with one.

Plan a daytime route near St George’s / Prickly Bay / Grenada within the boat's permitted area, with a nearby alternative and an agreed return time. Any crossing to the Grenadines needs written route approval and border clearance in the countries concerned. Before booking, confirm your departure harbour and the weather window, and ask which stops are allowed.
