I likes the sailing region although the weather was not the best. I also liked the person who did the check in with us who was very friendly but unfortunately didn’t speak English which made it very difficult to communicate. Luckily we had someone with us who could speak Spanish what worked. We liked that the charterer provided free rubbish bags, toilet paper and kitchen towels which are not always included. The boat was spacious and clean.
The yacht was in bad condition and many things were not maintained in a way that made us feel safe during our trip. We shared the following list with the charterer as well to indicate what was not well with the yacht: • Wind instrument missing – no measurement of wind strength and direction • APM display broken • No guardrail at the stern above the bathing platform for safety • Several cupboards would not stay closed • No reefing lines in the sail • Torn/damaged lines (mooring lines and mainsheet) • Moldy bimini and sails • No windows in the bimini for visibility (so without the digital wind measure it was almost impossible to see the sail and wind direction) • Sprayhood didn’t close completely (we had a lot of rain which lead to water in the cockpit • Closing mechanism of the bathing platform was broken at the beginning (was repaired after check in) • Fenders too small for the size of the boat (only one large and some extra lines were provided after request) • No possibility to lock the boat • Depth sounder at the navigation station failed at times • Damage to traveller/mainsheet system • No meter markings on the anchor chain • Anchor winch was new and not tested (fortunately it worked fine) • Boat hook broke after first usage so we needed to improvise Additionally, the dinghy motor was forgotten at the beginning even though we agreed on that with your colleagues from boataround. We also had no support when returning to the harbour because it was not communicated to us that we should return on the morning at 8 AM instead of the evening before which is the standard for morst charters Also, very late or no replies to messages from our contact person. So overall, we still had a good experience but we would have liked the boat to be in better condition. After telling the charterer they shared with us that this boat is used 300 days a year and that we were the last ones to use it before planned maintenance work. I believe it was very risky of them to still lend it to us and they should have provided a different boat.
