2 Terrible
This trip was meant to be a special and memorable celebration of my 60th birthday, shared with my family. Unfortunately, it turned into a deeply disappointing and frustrating experience due to multiple failures on your part and on the part of your charter partner. 1. Incorrect and Last-Minute Communication Less than 24hrs before the check-in (May 31st at 10:30 am), we were informed by Navigare that the yacht we had booked could not accommodate both the crew (skipper and chef) and our party (we are 6). This was surprising and deeply unsettling, as the advertised yacht – Lagoon 46 “Bella Giornata” (2023) – was listed with a capacity of 6+2 passengers. This inaccurate information created stress and uncertainty just before our trip began. We booked the yacht on November 11th, 2024 ~6 months in advance. In fact, during the month of May, I sent 4 mails and called twice to the Miami office requesting the names of the chef and skipper. Nobody mentioned that the boat cannot accomodate them. 2. Different, Inferior Yacht Provided To our dismay, we were not given the yacht we had reserved. Instead of the modern and well-equipped Bella Giornata, we were provided with an older and less expensive yacht – Kallisti (2022). The differences were significant: The Kallisti lacked key features that were central to our decision, including a flybridge (which we planned to use daily for family lunches), a dishwasher, and solar panels for energy efficiency, Starlink (WIFI), among others The value discrepancy is also notable: the Bella Giornata rental was EUR 5,760 for 6 days, while the Kallisti rents for EUR 3,900 for 7 days – a substantial downgrade in both quality and cost. Difference is EUR 1,860 or USD 2,120. See photos on the conditions of the cushions (dirty), rotten kitchen cloths, no table cloths, mattress with stains ( disgusting) and old broken coolers. 3. Severe Technical Failures and Safety Concerns The situation worsened when the yacht’s power generator broke down on the very first day: We had no power for air conditioning (unable to sleep due to high temperature inside cabins), no refrigeration, and were unable to use critical appliances throughout the entire trip. Much of the food and beverages we had brought aboard went to waste (spent ~USD 2,000 in supermarket) Members of my family who needed to work remotely could not charge their laptops or stay connected. A laptop broke down and is now not working given the problems with charging and power generator (value of ~USD 2000). We ran out of water multiple times and had to make unplanned stops to replenish it. Navigare made three unsuccessful attempts to repair the generator, which disrupted our itinerary and still failed to solve the issue. This completely ruined the experience and turned what should have been a joyful family celebration into an exhausting and disappointing ordeal.
