The boat was in excellent condition, and during the two weeks of sailing we had no problems. For this reason, at checkout, I filled out the questionnaire, assigning it the highest score. Only after delivery was I informed of an alleged fault with the anchor winch. It's true that in the last few days the anchor had been reeling in a little more slowly, although it still worked properly and never jammed. As a skipper with over 30 years of experience, I'm very careful with the use of onboard equipment, and I've never been charged for any damage. The technician performed a quick check and concluded that the winch needed to be replaced entirely, requesting €550 + VAT. In my opinion, this is an overestimation: in most cases, these problems are due to normal wear (brushes, collector, gearbox, or relay) and are resolved with routine maintenance, which is much less expensive than a complete replacement. Considering that the rental cost over €9,000, I believe this type of work should be considered normal boat maintenance and not charged to the customer. Therefore, there's a slight disappointment for an experience that, up until checkout, had been flawless. My advice is to always take out excess insurance, as it can avoid unpleasant disputes and unexpected costs at the end of the holiday.
