The main battery was unusable. Many of the onboard electronic instruments and fuel tanks were defective. Furthermore, charterers were not supposed to pay parking fees.

The battery capasity on the Elan 40.1 is bad (less than 24 hours with one fridge "on"). We had to use the main engine twice a day to charge until we gave up using the second fridge. After that we ran the engine for two hours every day. That was hardly enough. Advice: Expand battery bank and install a charger with greater capacity.

As a start i booked the vessel because it was a 2022 and relatively new. I had to look in the boat papers to convince myself that is was only 3 years old. I’ve chartered much older vessels that where in better condition than the Olelole. On Sunday, after motoring for a few hours, I noticed a penetrating diesel smell. I’ve notified your technician imeditately but instead of comming over to check he told me it made no sense.(see attachement) We had to sleep outside or with all cabins and ports open for the whole week. Upon return your technician detected a leaking diesel filter and diesel in the engine compartment. This is unacceptable and should have been acted upon. Potential fire hazard! The engine compartment clearly had not been checked for a while. I know stuff breaks on a boat but this boat has a lot of issues due to poor maintenance: - The circuit breaker of the anker is wonky and had to be reset several times, resulting in potentially dangerous sitiuations - Not a single gauge is accurate - The sanitary system is so poorly maintained that the whole boat, inside and out smells bad when a toilet has been used. Even when sailing with the sails starboard it smells like shit outside. The Elan is know to have this problem and it also is commonly known that this can be prevented by chemically cleaning the system. - The water pump kept running, we had to open the faucet, activate the pump to get water and deactivate the pump before closing the faucet. - The mattress contained mold spots and was of really poor quality. (see attachement) - The dinky was leaky, we had to pump it up every day to keep it operational - The dinky engine choke button was missing, it was very hard to start it when cold. - There was not a single clothespin on the boat, this is especially bad when you have to air your clothes due to diesel smell.

The battery should be replaced, it is not enough to hold during the night because of 2 fridges, but you can charge it with engine. Still worth of a big freezer.

The boat has a tank for only 300 l (100 + 200) of water. The main battery has a significantly low capacity. Marina Polesana is moored in an unattractive environment, probably a former military facility, nothing nice. The question is more for the manufacturer, why is the toilet located in the front cabin connected to the waste-tank and the toilet at the stern with the entrance from the salon goes directly into the sea.
