The basic Yacht itself was excellent. The water maker was a game changer. Dimitri who completed the take-over was excellent and very pragmatic.
To put the review in context. I have chartered yachts for family and friends in the Ionian for over twenty years and whilst the basic yacht was excellent, a number of issues caused it to be one of the worst experiences of dealing with the Charter of the Yacht to the point that I would not use either the charter company or BoatAround again. Prior to travelling out, contact with the charter company was always difficult with little response to questions over WhatsApp (the method requested by the Charter company) unless they were followed up by a phone call. Calls were never returned when messages were left. The reefs on the mainsail were labelled in reverse or not at all making the first sail in windy conditions a dangerous affair until we had worked out the problem. I suspect a previous charter crew had relabelled the reefs as a bit of fun! Basic routine maintenance left quite a lot to be desired. Lights did not work, USB sockets were broken, main door seals were unstuck, cupboard doors needed attention (not many but each cabin had something wrong which takes the shine off an expensive holiday on such a wonderful catamaran). The standard of the standard of both Stand up Paddle Boards (SUP) was poor. The one that came free with the yacht did not have a functioning foot strap (temporary repair by charter skipper to make it usable). However, even when pumped to full pressure the SUP was of a poor standard and was bendy/unstable. The additional one we paid for was even worse. The paddle was also missing the top handle section making uncomfortable to use. On return, we arrived back as requested at 1700 and the handling crew promised a handover at 1800. No handover was ever formally completed either that evening or before we left the yacht the next morning. There was confusion around the cost of the WiFi onboard. Before arrival, the onboard WiFi, along with many other toys you could hire, needed to be paid for. However, when we handed the yacht back, we were then told it was free and that we could have used it. Finally, it was painful having to pay for early check-in but it seems that this has become standard as the Charter company said that the check-in could not be completed before 1900 unless we paid 150 Euros in cash up front. If we had not paid we would have had to spend our first night at Lefkas marina taking a night off our holiday. Having made it home, on initial reflection, I will not use either the Charter Company or Boat Around again.
